Johnny shook his head.

"No I'll just stay here."

Johnny didn't look up. "ok I'll pick you up."

Max took an
Uber
to where his car was. Or where his airtag said his car was. Only when he arrived he saw that his car was nowhere to be found. He searched around for the airtag, half looking around in the real world, half looking at his phone. Where the hell was his airtag?

"You really care about that airtag?"

Max recognized the voice.

"I told you not to leave your car here over night."

"Did you see what happened to it?" Max asked.

"No. But I know that it's not here."

Max pointed to his phone. "But my airtag. I left it in the car. It says it's still here."

The man gave him a lazy look. "Well it doesn't seem to be here. Your car I mean."

Max nodded. Kept searching for the airtag as the man stood their slumped over, watching him search lazily.

Finally Max found it. It was in a box, underneath some wet leaves.

"well there it is," said the man with a slight grin.

"But my car."

"Not here." the man said.

Indeed, Max thought. He fimagined he'd be more sad or angry about this. But he wasn't. It almost felt natural to have lost the car.
