When he got back to Campbell he was no longer hungry. It felt like he had to take a five pound shit. He knew he couldn't go though so he didn't bother going to the bathroom. Instead he went straight to his room. He wanted to bypass all these empty halls. Thank god they still kept the lights on even while the students were gone. How creepy would it be to have this entire building be dark and having to walk to your room as the automatic lights came on as you walked through and turned off afterwards. The buildings where he had classes were surely like that right now. He didn't want to think about that though. Just wanted to get to his room quick.
When he arrived he had a weird feeling as he placed the key into the door. His gut knew why but he still had to rotate the key. The door was unlocked already. He was sure he had locked it before leaving. He was certain of this because he had felt so stupid about leaving it unlocked while he had gone down to the laundry room that he was making a point to himself to lock it before heading out to McDonald's.
He was scared to open the door now. But what else was there to do? If this had been a regular week night then he might go and get someone down the hall to watch him as he opened the door. But tonight he was all alone. There wasn't even the sound of Juan listening to his upbeat rhythm. Howard was all alone.
