He wrote daily on this website. But he also wrote into his notebooks. Pen on paper had a better chance at lasting longer than bits in a database. Theoretically bits could be preserved from one physical instance, say a database in Detroit to another database maybe in Tokyo, but it required a person to look after it. Otherwise that data would be wiped out. Wiped out quite sooner than pen on paper.

Ink on paper could last a long time without someone taking care of it. It couldn't get wet or be caught in a fire of course, but it could sit under someone's nose for decades without them knowing about it and still be safe. That's why George wrote his most personal character sketches onto these sheets. He never expected anyone to read them, but he didn't want them to just go into the dust. Wnated them jotted down somewhere.

He mentioned this hobby on the website. One of the other writers commented on that. "I do that too!"

They had all gone to college together. The final semester they had done a little writing club together. George dropped off after that and it was only by chance he found their website and them still writing together a decade later. He wouldn't join right away. Would lurk and read for another 10 years before finally joining and writing himself.
