He stopped by a gas station along the way. Bought a charger. He knew it was a ripoff but his phone was dying and he wanted to let the other guy know he would be late. Also why not fill up the gas?
That was the good thing about communication. If you were going to be late you could tell them... and then you could be more late because now they knew. He filled up the tank while bouncing up and down. It wasn't shivering cold but definitely bouncing cold. Some people would wait in their car. His parents never did that and said it was even dangerous. So he stayed outside boucing.
At the cafe he wouldn't even get coffee. It was too late for that. In fact he hadn't been drinking coffee much since he returned from
Spacecity
. He thought it was because Keith's coffee. This is what he thought about for the last half of the drive. The cafe was 30 minutes outside the city in a small town he had never been to. He wondered how his friend had ended up there anyway. Maybe he would find out over their chat.
