Let's play Jenga!

Saturday morning when I opened my front door to take my morning walk, I looked down on the mat that reads Casa Lobacrow and saw a block of wood with a note attached. The note was from a neighbor who lives a couple of doors down. She lamented that even though she has lived in her house since 2013, she has never reached out to get to know her neighbors. This was an invitation to decorate the block and then join her for an impromptu barbecue at 7 PM the same evening to have a friendly game of Jenga.

This was certainly a nice gesture, and I'm sure the neighbor means well. So, would you guess that I spent all yesterday afternoon racing to Hobby Lobby and Michael's to get a Bedazzler and sundry supplies to decorate my block for the big Jenga party? If you thought that, you don't know me very well.

Based on the footage of my Arlo camera on the front porch, this block was placed at my door at 10:52 PM the night before. This was clearly a last-minute idea. If I had more advance notice, I might have actually considered participating in the event. My next-door neighbor also agreed that it was short notice, and she was not planning to attend either. I appreciate the gesture, and perhaps down the road, I'll respond in my own way.
Yeah - I would like the gesture too but I am not a fan of last minute ideas either. Lost my appetite for impulsive things..
