900

I don't know that there is anything special about the number 900 other than it just so happens to be the tally of my master writing streak.

It all began on 200WAD. For a period of two years before the "big shutdown," I wrote one post of at least 200 words every day. That number represents 81% of my daily writing.

In December, some intrepid fellow writers (who also happened to be coders) wanted to keep the party going and very quickly constructed three different sites to satisfy our writing whims. The first was Writestreak where I have been writing for 177 days. Adagia was next where the streak stands at 161. LifeLog appeared soon after holding my third streak at 147 days.

I know it's more glamorous to be unpredictable. Someone who disappears for a while and then shows up randomly might receive a King's welcome. Then that person disappears again, and people pine away for the next sighting. That's different from the ol' standby who shows up every day. I mean just give it up right? Why do we need to see you every day? Be scarce so that you are more appreciated. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Familiarity breeds contempt. As you might expect, I don't care about any of that.

I am thrilled that we have people on this site who are as dedicated as I am to the practice of writing.

Just stopping to smell the roses and a doff of the cap to my long-time writing friends. Despite everything, we're still here.

:) I made it on the list despite my broken streak!!
Yes it takes massive discipline to keep going the way you are. You are coming close to Seth Godin's streak. You most definitely take the crown for consistency and discipline Brandon. Those are scarce resources. Congratulations!

I am thrilled as well, and honored!

And I love your characterization of the event as the Big Shutdown

900, the clubhouse leader, with no indication that you will relinquish that lead anytime soon.
