He imagined that he was so thin because his brain was sapping up all the resources. Maybe just like there were

's out there, 7'1 inches tall, giant human! Maybe there were some people with huge brains. Who knew how much that massive piece of wetware up there was consuming? 

This made Tommy feel better about himself. Much better than the other reason he played in his mind over and over again. That he was an unhealthy specimen, unfit for survival. A poorly designed meatsack attached to dysfunctional digestive track that couldn't absorb enough nutrients to beef Tommy up no matter how many pounds of red meat he consumed.

That didn't make him feel good. So he liked to think he had a big brain. He got good enough grades in school so why not? it fit the evidence. That was until he got to college. He still got good grades there but that's when he started filling out. 

Not in the way he had hoped. But at least he was no longer a pencilneck
