October's Formal

Everybody I had known until that one October attended that Autumn Formal. I was the only one to miss out on it.

Skipping the formal wasn't my plan. In fact I was dressed to the nines when I got that mysterious text message. I had been re-gelling my hair in the mirror under the fluorescent lights in my dorm room. My roommate had already gone over to Shawn's for pregaming, and I was late like always. When my phone vibrated ontop of my bed, I just assumed it was someone at Shawn's wondering when I was coming over. But it was an unknown number.

Would you be willing to stop over for a coffee?

I had no idea who it was.

sorry? I don't think we know each other.

One coffee. That's all I ask for. if you say no I understand. It's a busy night.

Indeed it was a busy night. I don't know why I agreed to it. Maybe it was because I knew from the texts it was a girl. I don't know how I knew, I just did. I guess I spent too much time texting in high school and now I had a read on such a thing. Useless skill if you ask me.

Plus the cafe the mystery number wanted to meet at happened to be en-route to Shawn's. I didn't know what to expect, but I sent a text over to my roommate saying I was meeting someone for a quick coffee at Espressions and that I would be over soonish.

Fucker

My answer to that would be something like:
"at mine or yours ?"
