A few weeks I heard a song from Avril Lavigne while driving somewhere. I can't remember where exactly but I "scrobbled" it with my mobile.
Yesterday I search for it on youtube and became a little bit obsessed.
Well, a little bit might be a little bit underestimated. Luckily last.fm tracks my Spotify and also everything I'm listening to on my Sonos loudspeakers at home.
(Also I'm listening to it while writing this.)
Before we go ahead, here is the link to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ciqUEV9F0OY and before I forget it, it is "Bite Me". Until yesterday I thought it was some kind of older song from here, but no, it is something completely new.
Well, according to last.fm I've listened to it already 46 times. Not counting the three or four times on youtube and not counting the current set I'm going through while writing this.
The thing is, as soon as I stop listening to it, my brain just keeps singing it. As I was binging it yesterday I always had to remember that I'm not alone in the Apartment building and that I should not sing really really loud which I did in the old Apartment on a regular basis.
I also had to catch myself multiple times a day at work to not shout out "Hey you" as that would have definitely angered my coworkers. :)
It is fascinating how fast I was hooked on it, but that probably has to do with the fact that I had a crush on her years back. It is also great that we are getting something "more" original punk-rocky again. Heavy guitar and awesome drums done by Travis Barker (Blink-182) make up a great combination of a catchy melody.
Luckily there seems to be a tour planned in the coming months. Maybe it is time to finally buy some tickets for it. But I wonder if the virus will allow it to take place.
Anyway, that counter is now at 48 :)

I discovered that between high school graduation and going to college and I was floored by the concept. SCROBBLING!
haha.
By the way lately i've been noticing i'm no longer bahambug about pop music coming on. I'll be pumping gas into my at the gas station -- yes there are still us plebs who use GASOLINE ! -- and a pop song will come one and i'll be dancing a long to it instead of being annoyed that the gas. station doesn't play QUALITY music.
Here's a great line for you from :
“I've heard it said that the happiest time in our lives is the period when pop songs really mean something to us, really get to us. ... Pop songs may, after all, be nothing but pop songs. And perhaps our lives are merely decorative, expendable items, a burst of fleeting color and nothing more.”
Now I won't go as far as to say pop music means something to me these days, but i can sure enjoy them now.
I wish I would have discovered scrobbling earlier, also I'm missing several years of listening from my USB stick inside my car. Luckily with the Model 3, I can use Spotify and thus scrobble even inside my car :)
Interesting quote with some true thought. Sometimes you just need to blast some pop around :)
