Take me home, Denver. Take me home. Where I belong.

Marc Love repeated this to different tunes. There was nothing else for him to do. He even wanted his captor to come back. Enjoyed his presence better than being down here alone.

Take me home, Denver. Take me home. Where I belong.

Lol why do you feel like you're interrupting?

We both imagined how cool it might be to have a story that is built by more than two people.

This story goes way back. Some of the threads are broken because we didn't reply directly to a prior post.

The original post that started it all was this one:
Passing Time Drew

There's also this other thread:
The Blue Man returns Yours Truly

The best thing about writing together has been the different worlds and characters we've explored together. Like there's the story of Keith and Marianne living in space via
Spacecity

There's been Denver and Blue driving across the country in a
Hyundai
.

There's the man in the expensive suit.

The diner in
Gas City
. Maxxx with his vanity license plates. The
Vietnamese
restaurant. The
school shooting
. etc etc etc

drewbaca_
and I joked how we would be doing this for decades. The story compounds in value over time becaues when you look back at it... it's not whether the writing was good or not that matters. But rather the fun and giggles and meaning had along the way.

PS this drew is different than the other drew

Every car on the street was white. This made Sally think everybody who lived on the street was pragmatic. She wondered how long a cargo utility van could last. A lot of people made their living in them. Plumbers. Electricians. Carpenters.

What lended to these utility vans lasting so long? Sally's...

Denver raised his hand. It took ten seconds. His voice wheezed through the air. He'd taken his oxygen mask  off. Marc Love had already gotten up but Denver swatted him away.

The car was now burning a quart of oil every 500 miles. A normal person would get that fixed as soon as they could afford to. They weren't planning on driving it back. So let it burn, let it god damn burn, the man in the expensive suit said while...

"Yes. You should come over sometime. If you're in town that is."

Hyundai oil gaosline
A barrel of  oil apparently consists of 42 gallons of crude oil. Refineries then yield that into about 20 gallons of  gaosline . Of that my Hyundai has consumed about 5200 gallons going by the mileage, my driving patterns, and fuel efficiency.

That means this car, at my and my family's...

My  Hyundai has about 132,000  miles on it. Given its  MPG around 23 in the city and 30 on the highway and my driving patterns, I estimate that this car has now burned roughly 5500 gallons of gasoline .

Interesting that you still use
Last.fm

I discovered that between high school graduation and going to college and I was floored by the concept. SCROBBLING!

haha.

By the way lately i've been noticing i'm no longer bahambug about pop music coming on. I'll be pumping gas into my
Hyundai
at the gas station -- yes there are still us plebs who use GASOLINE ! -- and a pop song will come one and i'll be dancing a long to it instead of being annoyed that the gas. station doesn't play QUALITY music.

Here's a great line for you from
Haruki Murakami
:

“I've heard it said that the happiest time in our lives is the period when pop songs really mean something to us, really get to us. ... Pop songs may, after all, be nothing but pop songs. And perhaps our lives are merely decorative, expendable items, a burst of fleeting color and nothing more.”

Now I won't go as far as to say pop music means something to me these days, but i can sure enjoy them now.

Hold off buying a used car
How much cash did you pay for it? And how many years/miles did it have on it when you took ownership?

I think for some models, people are unhappy with the newer ones because the manufacturer changes something drastically.

It's kind of like how some people want the older version of tea kettle from like 30 years ago by
Chantal
rather than a brand new one for much cheaper in the store.

BTW we have similar aged cars... though mine has way more miles.
