The woman who didn't check time time coffee sleep sun sky tea bookstore

After leaving her job, she didn't view
time
the same. Instead of using the 24 hours she began segmenting each day into six markers. There was no concept of seven o clock anymore.

This was her system:
The rooster crowing in the morning -- 1. The
coffee
-- 2. The first meal -- 3. The walk -- 4. Dinner -- 5. And finally
sleep
-- 6.

When Jan from the old office visited her she made a lot of comments about how crazy this was.

"Well how can you get around like this? How can you get anything done?"

But there wasn't much to get done or go around to really. Now that she didn't need to be in the office by a specific hour, and finish up work by another, then meet a person for lunch by another specific time, just to run back to the office by yet another so she could respond to an email in timely fashion, she no longer needed to check the hour. She could see where the
sun
was in the
sky
, and the six markers were enough.

Some days a guest might stop by impromptu and they might get into a long
tea
and conversation and she might not be able to head into town to visit the
bookstore
before it closed. But that was okay. She would just go the next day.
I think the woman who didn't check time is living in the moment and loving her life. Probably she had made good investments in her early life.

I believe similar to how
hustle
culture glorified overworking, that there is also a glorification to doing the opposite of hustle.
