So much for Elon's takeover of Twitter

Late Friday the news reported that Elon Musk's lawyers sent a letter to Twitter informing them that he is terminating the merger agreement in which he agreed to buy Twitter for $44B. The letter alleges that Twitter breached the terms of the agreement by failing to provide accurate data about the number of spam and bot accounts on the platform.

Twitter countered with an indication that they will pursue legal action to prevent Elon from backing out. It seems this one is going to be tied up in litigation and the outcome will either be Elon forced to buy Twitter or pay a $1B penalty for backing out of the deal.

I have no vested interest in the outcome. While it would have been interesting to see the changes Elon would have made to Twitter, it likely would not have changed my opinion about the platform. If Twitter suddenly disappeared tomorrow, it would not affect me in the slightest. This is true of all social media platforms. Some might say I'm just an old fuddy duddy who doesn't understand social media or how to use it. I understand social media but I'm not beholden to it.

Anyone who is making his or her living on social media should be concerned that these companies have the power to ban, shadowban, or demonetize you if you don't follow their arbitrary (and sometimes mysterious) guidelines. It used to be buyer beware but now it's also creator beware.
What happened to
Twitter
not wanting
Elon Musk
to buy it initially?

"Want to catch a movie this Friday?"

"No. I'm too busy and i don't like you."

"Okay. I'll go play pinball by myself."

"Hey wait! You need to take me to the movies this Friday. Or you need to pay me 100 bucks!"

To be honest, Elon is a nonsense person for backing out of the deal. The excuse is flimsy, who goes shopping for a 40-something billion-dollar company without doing due diligence before making a proposal.

Yeah right, creator beware, but Social Media is pretty much the easiest way to build an audience.

Good thing I'm not in the building-an-audience business (except to get my newsletter to 1K subscribers just to say I could and then I'm out!)

Pardon, but 44B is a lota money so why isn't he just starting his own social media platform and call it whatever he likes ? It's just a bad deal IMO to buy Twitter for a number of reasons. First being the audience. Look, Brandon you don't care about it and i bet half of the community here don't use it.

He wants all the people to be there and to onboard everyone he should just doit from zéro on other fundamenta principles.

Twitter evolved into what it is today so him trying to stir it into something else that matches his vision will make a lot of the current users unhappy. Take bots for example, why remove boys ? I like bots and i follow some bots. Archillect for example it's awesome.

Spam, well yeah okay I'm blocking accounts constantly. What else ? Crypto payments? It's already in the works.
