Micheal Johnson

Michael Johnson Vs Nigerians.

MJ got himself in a serious issue with Nigerians. He made a valid point in a wrong time.

The average Nigerian is angry.
Nigeria have never produced a Track & Fields world Champion.
He could have pointed out the same issue when an American won. He didn't. Someone pointed it to him, he replied the win by the American was expected.

He brought the heat upon himself.

You don't undermine an unprecedented feat. It's wrong everywhere.
So 50% of the athletes recorded best-ever times, and many appeared shocked at the results? I guess the question is, who is "allowed" to raise a question about this if not someone with Michael's experience?

I follow Social Issues a lot (maybe not a lot, but I try to).

One major issue Women and people of colour complain about are the demeaning of achievements.

When a woman wins a hard-fought accomplishment and a caucasian male commentator chooses to point out the fault in the quota system. That fellow should know he's in for the trouble of his life.

MJ, being a former athlete from a minority race should have known better. He should have understood context and not make that point at that point in time.

While I'm not up for all race/minority issues. The outrage isn't far-fetched.

Too bad we can't both be in a "white fragility" seminar together. I'm sure it would be quite the barn burner.
