waiting for the tourist bus blue teeth Hollywood roadtrip van Native American spirit catcher Grand Canyon

as reply to On the Road

There were pseudo
Native American
artifacts everywhere. Denver knew they were fake, but he still wanted to buy some. "You want to get some of these?" Blue asked as if he were reading his mind. "No that's alright."

Blue furrowed his brow at him. A family of rotund Spanish speaking folk passed by them as Blue leaned his hips inwards to allow for the large family to get by. When he straightened out he hovered his hand over the different spirit catchers.

"Mmmm, I might want one." his hand continued to hover, slowing down as it neared the
blue
spirit catcher
. "I'll take this one. What do you think?"

"How did you know that's what I--" Denver stopped himself as that furrow returned to Blue's face." -- I mean. Is that what you really want?"

A smile revealed perfectly white
teeth
. He looked like one of those people in the
Hollywood
hills. Denver couldn't remember seeing Blue smile. Was this really the first time he smiled since they met? Strange how he could get along so well with someone who never smiled.

"Yes. I like this one."

"I like it too," Denver said.

"Come on, let's pay for this and then get something to eat."

There was 40 minutes left until their bus left for the
Grand Canyon
. Until then they were stuck at this Tourist Center. A meal did sound good. The two of them had been eating nothing but greasy junk food. All that was available on the road out in the country. Blue had paid for all the meals. Denver couldn't remember the last time when he felt so carefree. He had spent all his life wondering, worrying, fighting for his next meal, that this
roadtrip
and all the meals courtesey of Blue felt like gifts from heaven. Denver liked eating for free.

The car also was fed by Blue. Denver had lost count how many times they had filled the tank. But each time Blue took out his credit card and paid. Even offered to buy them Fiji water.

During the first part of the trip, when Denver didn't know that Blue was some big shot influencer, Blue had never shown that he had a credit card. He would help pay for things, but he would always use cash. It was once Denver's old box of shit
van
broke down and they needed a new car that Blue's jig was up. He either had to continue pretending that he didn't have money or reveal that he was in fact not in the same situation Denver was.

Denver was surprised by how much Blue revealed. It's not like he had to tell him his true identity. Blue could have made up some story about how he used to be a businessman or something like that. Anything other than confessing that he was in fact The Blue Man. The one and only. And when Denver had asked him, "did you really kill that girl?", Blue didn't need to answer. But he had.

The two of them walked over to the food court. Denver thought about two things. One: whether he wanted pizza or burgers. Two: Blue's answer to Denver's question about whether he had killed that girl. "Yes, Denver. I did."
