It was strange. Joey had said that it was a busy night. But going through the POS system, Tony saw that there were barely any sales. Joey had probably just lied to cover up the fact the real reason he hadn't read the book.

It was because Joey was actually 

Batman

. A vigilante who pretended to be a barista... but fought crime at night. Tony was so inspired by this realization at 1PM that he took off his apron and handed it to a customer who was reading the New York Times.

"Can you take over for 30 minutes? I'll be right back?"

The man looked confused. Took off his reading glasses. Was about to say "What do you mean?" but Tony was already gone.

He was en route to Joey's place. He had to go thank him for his service. Beating up bad guys. There had been some murders around here. What the city needed in these dark times was a true hero. Not those politicians who promised to fix problems but never did. Joey, or Batman, was really fixing things.

Tony took his car. It was about an eight minute drive. If there was no traffic.
