When he awoke it was almost 11. 10:40 to be exact. He knew he wouldn't get out of bed right away. So by the time he got to eating breakfast it would already be noon. This morning he didn't want to check his phone like usual. His thoughts were consumed with the car in the parking lot from the day before. The girl inside. And the four or five black vehicles across the street at the gas station. Strange gas station it was. Run by a local. And closed early. Unlike the 24 hour gas stations he had grown used to.

The gas price at Chip's was always a little higher than in town. And the nozzle dispensed gas slower. It always seemed to take forever to fill up the 16 gallon tank. But for the most part he preferred filling up at Chip's over the franchise's in town.

Plus the man knew him by name. He could only assume the owner's name was Chip. He'd never asked. But why name a gas station Chip if that wasn't your name, right?

He'd ask the man his name next time. Yeah. That thought got him out of bed real quick. Maybe he was going to do something productive today. He was feeling a bit more... energized.
