slow conversation between two men time cigarette Seaside Rest

as reply to Up to Here

On that boardwalk the two spoke for less than half hour's time. To Dave it felt like a long conversation, Not in a bad way.
time
slowed down. He paid attention. Listened. there were no goals. Just two men exchanging words while the ocean exchanged force against the coastline.

it felt like they were sharing their lives. Details were unimportant. Few detail were used. One side would share some thing that happened a long time ago with some person who was like this or that. And the other would understand immediately.

The old man didn't say it outright, but Dave understood that he'd soon be dead. The
Seaside Rest
was the place he wanted to die. Not a bad place to go, Dave thought. He might do that too if he were ever in a situation where he'd know when his time was.

After the conversation Dave walked away feeling refreshed. He had been looking for a
cigarette
before; craving it bad. Now he didn't want one. Didn't want anything really. The only thing he focused on were the steps. left foot. right foot. one by one. Heading back to the Seaside Rest. His phone was still off. He would turn it back on after returning to his room.
