"Have a little bit more to drink."
Keith looked at the cameras. Wondered which one was the one the person was looking at. Keith wanted the person to see Keith straight on.
"You must be thirsty. We know you're dehydrated. So go on. Have a drink."
Keith kept looking. Felt his mouth with his tongue. Swirled saliva around.
"Yeah I know. Tap water down there must sound gross. But it's better than being dehydrated. Plus you just had a drink. Wasn't too bad right?'
Keith stood there. The lamps buzzed. He didn't say a word. Was trying to suss the intercom voice out. The intercom didn't seem to be talking either.
After 30 seconds or so a cough came through the intercom.
"Okay. Look. So you're not going to talk. You're not going to listen to us. We get it."
Then the light shut off. The hum was gone. The air felt thicker. Now Keith was in complete darkness. He wondered whether it was night or day. The room was completely blocked off from the outside. No way to tell. Keith sat down. Criss cross apple sauce. He wondered when the light would come back on. He felt thirsty.
