had slept for like 10 hours. So long that she didn't get to see the mountains turn to desert and then to the ocean. When she woke up she smelt salt water, and heart seagulls call as they flew around the sky, diving down into the water, and on the beach. Picking up anything they could find.
She wished in that moment she could fly. Fly far away from there. She wished she could see where she was, see where Keith was.
She tried not to stir, her eyes cracked open a little as Jack was driving. He was patient and kind. But he wasn't Keith.
They had decided they would go to the Seaside rest. She played it off like she hadn't heard about it, like she just saw it in a pamphlet in Colorado.
"Maybe we should head here." She said.
"Oh, interesting." Jack responded still in an English accent.
"Yes, quite." She replied. "Simply marvelous. Its settled then darling."
When she said Darling she could see his eyes light up. Hoping it was a real part of their act.
So she kept her eyes shut while he continued to drive. She tried to breathe quietly so he couldn't tell.
