Well they were doing this act like they were this british couple. Perhaps the act involved her never having been to the Seaside Rest. That must be it.

Jack glanced over at Imogen. She was sleeping. He glanced back to the road. A glance gone too long, just a second too long could ruin the day. Maybe not kill them, but injure them. Crash. Having to get a new car. It was crazy how quick things could get bad.

He looked straight down the road. Wished he could look at her again. But kept his eyes ahead. Imagined her looking at him. She'd like him better if he kept focused on the driving. That's what she wanted out of him. Reliability. Not someone peaking at her. That was obsessive.

The only relationship Jack missed was ruined due to his obsessiveness. The last girlfriend he didn't care for. But the relationship never ended because he wasn't over bearing.

His first girlfriend out of high school, at college. He had loved her so much. Couldn't leave her alone. She couldn't take it. In the end he ended up alone.

After that he always kept his intimacy in check. Didn't share too much of himself.
