Warriors

Thanks to the recommendation by a few writers I met here, I started watching the show called Warriors.
From the initial moment, I was hooked. The show has the perfect amount of martial arts, drama, conversation and above all historical context that I wasn't aware of. I will be watching both seasons within a week.

As I watched the show, I came to learn that the Chinese had a lot to do with the railroad construction. I had no idea. I never knew how old some of the Chinatown centers around the US were. I found myself googling a few things as I watched the show. And I thought to myself once again, entertainment is the best way to educate people in mass and while you have their undivided attention.

Many cultures have their way of telling their stories and sharing history. I have found that some cultures have mastered this. I found myself learning and admiring the producers and writers of the show 'Warrior'. And a part of me wondered if I could be a part of a similar story for Africa. Its all about how well you execute the story telling.

Yeah I thought it would resonate with you! And I also remember you writing about how effective big production films/tv are for telling stories and how you want to be a part of that for Ethiopia.

Maybe it's time to begin telling stories of Ethiopians? So that that becomes what you are known for in a few years? You know how Tim Ferriss is known for discussing productivity and world issues with top performers? And how Sam Harris is known for discussing psychology and philosophy? Everyone is known for something. I think this post shows me what type of writing you'd be happy to be known for.

That's a good idea Sir Abe. There is one Ethiopian writer Maaza Mengiste - who did that very recently.  She wrote fiction titled - Shadow kings. Read her interview here - https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/12/books/maaza-mengiste-the-shadow-king-photography.html
