Danny Calruso, he'd heard that before or was familiar. Maybe just sounds like a mobster.
He sat at the bar a little while longer, his whiskey now seeming more than he wanted. So he left the rest, almost a whole shot, would have laughed at him. Said something like "Don't forget the rest of that." If she was here, he'd offer her some.
He walked up the stairs instead of the elevator, back stairs. A habit since he was working at the other hotel. Take the less traveled stairs, and you can take a break, go at your own pace. Whatever.
He liked that, there was always a feeling in his stomach that he was safe there. Here it was the same, a peacefulness of the back staircase. Dust was on the stairs because not even the people that work here use them.
Then he heard a sound. Sort of like someone crying. Then someone moved, he just made out the face of the kid he thought.
At his room he looked up Danny. Not much, some things about the pier some groups. He was head an anti-tourist group, and some other fisherman's union.
"Why would he be so mad?"
He lit a cigarette, and opened the window.
