She wasn't expecting to see anything when stepping up to the peep hole. Looking through it was more of a joke. Years later she would wonder how much different life would've been had she never tried looking through that peep hole at that exact moment.
Johnny came in bandaged up and drying off the last of the moisture off his forearms. He found it strange that McKayala was still looking through the door like that. He whispered, "what are you looking at?" with a giggle. She never giggled back. Instead she stood there for a bit. And then she turned slowly around. Johnny kept a smile glued to his face. Hoping for it to reciprocate. Hoped for a burst of laughter and a 'HA I GOT YA! YOU WERE SO WORRIED!" but the look on his friend's face was not an act. He could recognize straight away that she had just seen something terrifying.
The smile stayed on his face however. He wanted to comfort her, and the smile was the only way he knew how.
"Come here," he said. He kept saying things. Silence would've made the situation worse he thought. He had no idea what she had seen, but he knew that silence could make her imagination grow wild
