racking his memory

as reply to Were

Steven said he never shaved. He just never grew any facial hair. It was like those kids before puberty. Naturally smooth. Nobody actually believed this though because it sounded impossible. For some reason George believed Steven.

The man who turned him onto shaving using a double edge razor though was named Marc. Marc Love. A funny name George thought. He liked saying it. Would find himself sometimes humming to it while driving. He would never do that in front of Marc or admit that he did it. That would be weird.

Marc worked in another wing of the office. They never spent that much time together, but whenever they ran into each other in the hall they would have a longer than just hello chat. George felt like he had a connection to Marc. Like he was a person who had been in his life long ago. George kept trying to rack his brain into remembering. When they first met George shook his head and said "I'm sorry. But I feel like I know you from before. Do we know each other?"

Marc stared at him with a smile that never went away. "I don't think so. I think I have a memorable face maybe?"

George smiled and nodded. "Maybe." he said. But he still couldn't stop trying to remember when he had seen Marc before.
