Learning

Today, I was supposed to attend a stand up comedy event where the comedian Hannibal Buress was going to do a show. I had decided to expose myself to more comedy with the hopes that it will rub off on me. A few people close to me that are aware of my goal to be funny - told me that I needed to watch less courtroom drama and more comedy.

However, earlier this week, I decided to stop being adventurous due to the delta variant. I don't need to be funny that bad. So along with canceling my WeWork membership and getting a few months supply of my medications and essentials, I cancelled my plans to attend the stand up comedy.

So instead, I am now I am going to learn the hard way. I decided to read books about humorous writing. I specifically found a book called - 'How to be funny - even if you are not.' Somebody wrote the book with me in mind. I haven't started reading the book yet but I am excited at the prospect. I think humor can be a skill that can be developed and improved. Especially with writing. Even if it will be harder for someone like me, I believe it is doable.

I will share a trick or two when I go through my books and lessons. I still have 13 days until I have to submit my writing for the Medium challenge. Let's hope I need less time to become funny.
I am interested in the tips you pick up about adding humor to your writing.

Do you still collaborate with that comedian woman from the DC/Baltimore area? I remember you saying that you were trying to help her write jokes here and there.

I will definitely share them here Brandon. From what I have read so far, there aren't too many people interested in writing anything humorous. I could have loved to have learned from others but I find that I am all alone in that interest.

Sir Abe, the lady had to abandon her project when COVID hit. She is actually quiet active on social media and I am sure she is working on her skills but I am not working on anything with her at the moment.
