"What's wrong with you, man?" Aaron muffled. Globs of pizza barely fitting in his mouth. "It's like you're moody... or some shit?"
"Nothing."
"I mean. I guess you were always kind of moody. So this isn't new. But fuck. This is some next level shit. Look at me. I just got fired. And I'm still having a ball."
Did having a ball mean stuffing one self with and screaming loudly like some internet guru? Jack wondered to himself. He kept his mouth shut about that though. Instead opened his mouth for another aim.
"What'd you think of last night's party?"
He wiped his big face using his big pale hands. Coughed. Blew his nose. And then coughed again. "Excuse me. Lord jesus!" He sneezed into a napkin and then shoved it into his pocket. "Party was alright. I had a good time."
"Yeah<" said Jack.
"But you know. Nothing like a New York party. Say what was up with that guy with the bullet proof vest?"
"No idea. That was kind of weird."
"Really weird actually. Fucked up even. Do you know him? I don't remember him. I know you left before we graduated... but was wondering if you recognized him."
"I did not. I was wondering if you did."
"Nah." Aaron sucked on his straw. Made a slurping sound. A man approached.
"That. Is Travis Brody's brother."
Aaron turned around to meet the man. Tall. Thin. Gray stringy hair.
"Brody has a brother? I never knew that!"
Travis Brody was the star quarterback. He had been destined for NCAA at the least. Maybe NFL. But something happened along the way and he never left town.
"Nothing."
