It was a cold day according to the internet. But Dale didn't know because he was in a windowless, temperature controlled room. He wondered how nice it would be to be out there in the snow. Feeling it melt against his nose. But instead he was under the
florescent
lights. His coworker scrolling through the same feed over and over, snorting a chuckle every while.

Dale was bored. He thought his coworker was bored as well. The only difference was that the coworker distracted himself from the boredom with his feeds. Dale was feeling the boredom. Really in it. Having a true modern experience.

This is what he told himself. Imagining a
Wikipedia
article about him. Dale Martin. a man who didn't shy away from boredom. Instead embodied it and...

What was it all for? He wondered. It was meaningless. He spent eight hours here a day in the office. Commuted five minutes by foot to the living quarters provided by the
blue
group and did nothing. He was just wasting his life.

Then a phone call came in. He rememberd the sound of this call. Because it was an actual phone. Like from the old days. With a real ring. Not a digital one.

It rung four times until his coworker picked up. Dale couldn't hear the other line. only what his coworker said.

"Mm. Yep. Uh huh. Ok. Really? you don't say. Are you sure? Okay. Okay. Yes, mam. Got it."

Then the sound of contact. Receiver hitting the phone.

"Dale. We got a code
blue
."

"Code Blue?"

"Blue."
