There was still smoke in the air. Her ears were ringing. Danny put the pistol back down.

She remembered the image. But more the sound.

"Shut that god damn phone off!" Danny had said before whipping out the pistol and shooting the phone.

After tht her ears were ringing. Guns were loud, but they were even louder when fired off within enclosed walls. Sound waves ricothed back and forth amplifying the bullet's blast.

Back at the 

Seaside Rest

, Blayne told the kid that he better just head over in person. He took the sheet back that had the phone number and began scribbling down an address.

The kid looked dumbly down at the sheet.

"You want me to drive here?" He knew this is exactly what Blayne wanted. Only that it seemed such a ridiculous request.

"Take my truck," Blayne tossed his keys over at him. The Kid caught it. There were about three dozen keys on the chain but it was obvious which one was the key to the truck.

The Kid was almost out of the office of the Seaside Rest when Blayne whispered across the room, "Whatever you do. Don't go inside unless he invites you in."

Weird, The Kid thought. He would never go inside anywhere unless he was invited. Why did Blayne say that?
