johnny makes a run for it

as reply to And Madder

She was definitely mad. Fog spread against the glass in front of her mouth near the letter L of "Laundromat".

Johnny's heart was beating and he thought piss might escape his urethra.

He suddenly remembered how his mom would lose her temper. She had been a calm lady. So whenever she freaked out it scared him. Little Johnny never got used to it. Unlike his dad who was always angry.

His first instinct was to run away. Through the back maybe. But he was scared of how gross it was there. Wet mops and moldy walls. He had never been back there, but that's how he imagined it. After one look at McKayla who was huffing and puffing into the glass he decided to make a run for it through the black, moldy, hallway.

As soon as he turned around he could hear pounding and a muffled scream on the glass. He dared not turn back around. Just decided to keep running. After a few steps, even before he entered the dark hall, he slipped on a pair red boxers on the ground and almost fell and broke his face. He was able to catch himself on an elbow. But now his elbow was bleeding and it hurt like hell. He didn't know he could feel pain like that actually. But he didn't linger on it. He ran. Cautiously now.

The dark hall wasn't wet and moldy like he thought. It was just a regular hall. He turned a corner and then there was a door that looked like it led outside. He put down his un maimed elbow to push the stainless steel handle in. He felt the door open and bright natural light peered through the opening crack between the wall and the door.
