old and working class The Idiot

as reply to To Reality

The following morning he woke up late but earlier than expected. He didn't feel hung over at all. He was excited about that and went down the empty hall to the community bathroom to brush his teeth. There was hardly a soul in the dorms. He could hear distant speakers while walking to the bathroom but that was probably just Luiz from Brazil listening to a soccer match.

It sort of scared him actually how empty the place felt. Not like Freddy Kruger type shit, but he was surprised to feel how much the massive amounts of humans roaming around this enormous building made it feel not empty. Without them lurking around the place felt dead in a not so good way.

He went out quick after changing book in hand. He would go to the cafe and read
The Idiot
. He would read a lot today finally. Then he'd text Ashleigh about it. This he was excited about. Just a way to also say Happy Thanksgiving of course. Maybe set up lunch or coffee the following week. He couldn't say he missed her since they didn't hang out that often, but he was eager to see her again.

Grand River was even emptier now. Howard was pretty sure that both Michael Bo and Spencer had gone home. The town really felt empty now. Looking at all the people around he realized how old the people seemed without the over representation of students. A lot of them also looked like they were working class.
