Before the commitment Twitter Coinbase Youtube Gmail

For me the worst part about the internet is the best feature: infinite access to information.

By this point in my life I've figured out and accepted that the best type of day is not the kind that starts with consuming. It doesn't matter how good the podcast is or how educational that blog post might be. All of that... other people's thoughts and ideas can wait until later. The best days begin with you and nature.

Sunlight in the eyes. Birdsongs in the ears. Time, in that liminal yet infinite space after having woken but before you have committed to your social and civic and professional roles.

I was ashamed at first, but now am proud to admit that I've spent my first week in a long time, starting the day to myself and nature itself. No day this week did I begin the day by logging onto
Twitter
or
Coinbase
or
Youtube
or
Gmail
or wherever else. I began with the spirit of the universe and myself. And then I moved onto my notebook. And then the digital page here on this site. Until I can find a better way to begin the day I will stick with this.
Amen, you know, the days when I start my day with meditation are the days when I do my best work. I think we learn to be in control of our attention, it's a process that takes time. Moderation.
